The Hollow House
The Hollow House is a residential project shaped around the idea of creating life within a carved central void. Inspired by the relationship between earth, water, and traditional Emirati dwellings, the home presents a quiet, grounded presence from the outside while opening inward toward a more fluid and intimate interior experience. At its heart, a central pool becomes the core of the residence, connecting the surrounding spaces through light, reflection, and movement. Rather than placing a house around water, The Hollow House is imagined as a solid mass hollowed from within, allowing the water to define the architecture and the way the home is experienced.
The Hollow House is a residential interior project organized around a central courtyard and pool that define the home’s spatial planning and connection to nature. The moodboard establishes a warm, earthy material palette featuring terracotta-toned tadelakt plaster, burnt clay stucco, polished concrete, perforated breeze blocks, natural timber, and dark bronze metal accents, complemented by Mediterranean planting. The master plan prioritizes privacy, clear zoning, and smooth circulation, while the concept develops from a solid mass carved around a central void. Passive strategies such as shading, filtered daylight, ventilation, and vegetation further respond to Dubai’s climate and enhance indoor comfort.
The project includes the Master Suite Bedroom, Master Bedroom 1, Master Bedroom 2, and Living Room, each developed through a consistent material and visual language. Across the spaces, warm plaster finishes, travertine flooring, walnut wood, natural textiles, and handcrafted details create a cohesive residential atmosphere. Subtle sage, taupe, and off-white tones are balanced with darker accents, while Mashrabiya-inspired elements, integrated lighting, ceramic features, and custom joinery reinforce a contemporary regional character throughout the interior.
